Photo of Twig
Twig
Twig is a survivor - it is as simple as that. He was found by the Humane Society worker who was driving to work and happened to see a shell of a dog swaying on the sidewalk; head and tail down and every bone in his body pushing through his black coat. The staff member walked around trying to find the owner or someone who may have known where he came from but no one stood up for the poor guy. Reluctant to pick him up and put him in her husbands brand new car (she knew he would not approve), she knew there was no time to come back or call for help. More important than a new car getting muddy or covered in feces was the fact that this dog was obviously dying. She quickly scooped him up and rushed him to the shelter where he received medical attention, fluids and plenty of rest. Today, he is healthy and happy to be alive. He has a little bit of gray around his chin, but it must be from stress or malnutrition because the veterinarian believes he is too young to be gray! Twig, although apprehensive at first, and understandably so, does very well with people but very well may want to be your only dog friend. If Twigs story touches your heart and you want to know more, just stop in and visit with him at the Humane Society today.
