Our Services
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton provides Montgomery County with a full range of services designed to enhance family life through pet ownership, improve the quality of life of all of Dayton's animals and help to control pet overpopulation and prevent animal cruelty. Through a mix of education and outreach, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton offers more programs than any other animal-welfare agency in the area.
Adoptions
The Humane Society adopts thousands of animals each year to loving families. As well as working to create lifelong relationships between people and pets, the Humane Society places dogs, cats and other furry friends into loving homes. Take a look at some of our adoptable pets by visiting our Adoption page.

Spay/Neuter Services
To help control pet overpopulation, the Humane Society offers spay/neuter programs to the community. Every dog and cat available for adoption has been spayed or neutered. We also offer standard spay/neuter services, as well as income-based programs for those who can't afford traditional procedures. For a complete list of spay/neuter programs, click here.
Cruelty Prevention Program
Preventing animal cruelty and neglect is critical. The Humane Society investigates reports of cruelty against all animals and works with local law enforcement to ensure timely results to the fullest extent of the law. Pet Care/Education
Working with the youth of today creates the outstanding pet owners of tomorrow. We offer ongoing education for area classrooms that focuses on pet care and ownership, as well as preventing dog bites and other animal-related injuries. We also offer a resource library online to give you the latest information on a variety of pet-care issues, such as housetraining your pet, traveling with your pet and much more. Animal Foster Services
To prepare for placement in a permanent home, many pets require foster care, which helps to prepare them for family life. Volunteers in our fosters program take pets into their homes for a specified period of time to develop family skills, provide ongoing socialization and prepare the pet's for adoption. Dog Park
Looking for a safe, fun place to enjoy the outdoors with your dog? Join us at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton's Dog Park, located on the agency grounds at Nicholas Road. For more information about Dog Park membership and how you can support the park, click here.
Microchipping Services
Losing a pet can be traumatic for any family and dangerous for our pets. In order to ensure that lost pets are returned to their families as quickly as possible, we provide microchipping services. All animals available for adoption are microchipped. We also offer this service for area families, for only $10 per pet.
Microchipping places a safe, permanent ID chip under the pet's skin that can be easily accessed by a scanning device at local shelters and veterinary offices. The scanner then provides the information necessary to return your pet, safe and secure.
Dog Licenses
The Humane Society sells dog licenses for all dogs within Montgomery County. The cost is $16.75 per license. (Late fees may apply. OR Penalties may be assessed for overdue licenses.)
Animal Enrichment
For many pets adoption is just one of several steps in fully adjusting to a loving family. At the Humane Society, we offer many ongoing programs to help prepare our pets for family life, as well as support for families who've added a new pet to their homes.
